Sling Library and Support in Southend

Slings-on-Sea (part of Parenting-on-Sea CIC) is Southend's sling library and consultancy, run by carrying consultants Lizzie Start, Joanne Webb and Sam Dunlop, working in collaboration with Cake Club CIO.

The sling library can be found alongside Cake Club's support and playgroup sessions on Mondays and Fridays in Westcliff, Tuesdays in Rochford (first Tuesday of the month only) and Leigh, Wednesdays in Southchurch, Thursdays in Eastwood and Shoebury, and some Saturdays in Leigh and Westcliff. Infant feeding support and general parenting solidarity are also available at these sessions. You can book your place here.

1:1 consultations are available to book at our office in Westcliff (at The Haven Community Hub), online via Zoom, or as a home visit. Book here or get in touch for more info.

Slings can also be hired from 6 Wood End, Hockley (by prior arrangement) or by post. Local delivery can be arranged free of charge for those who are vulnerable or self-isolating, otherwise a £5 delivery charge will be added.

Hire fees are as follows:

Stretchy wraps & Close Caboos - £5 per week / £12 for 4 weeks / £20 for 3 months (4th trimester)

We also run a free stretchy wrap scheme for babies under 8 weeks.

Newborn buckle carriers (Dracomom Hatchling, Izmi Baby carrier, Mamaruga Zensling, Ergobaby Embrace)  - £30 for 3 months (4th trimester)

All other slings and carriers - £5 per week / £18 for 4 weeks / £30 for 8 weeks 

We offer a two-for-one hire rate for all twin families, excluding twin-specific slings such as the Weego, Minimonkey Twin and TwinGo which are hired at the same rate as our other slings and carriers.
